Mark Balogh has enjoyed spending time in the woods for as long as he can remember. Growing up just outside of Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., Balogh found solace in the outdoors. “I was a bit of a loner and I spent a lot of time wandering the forest by myself,” he says. “I found some mystery there.” After stints as a bicycle messenger and tree planter, Balogh pursued forestry as “a job where I could have a professional designation and still have a large component of my time in the field,” he says.
