Barnstaple went on a nine-try romp at Marlborough on their way to a 58-15 win over the One South West new boys in the wet weather at the weekend. Crediton put two successive defeats in the Two South West division behind them by closing out an 18-17 win at Winscombe. Loses against Wadebridge followed another against Okehampton, cost Crediton second spot behind leaders Topsham in the promotion race. Victory in north Somerset lifted Crediton back up to second, although there remains work to do to eat into Topsham’s nine-point lead at the top. The two sides meet in two rounds’ time, which will be a must-win date for Crediton.

South Molton are hovering just ahead of the relegation places in Devon One following a 17-0 home defeat by Plymouth side OPM. Four successive defeats in five starts so far – they have not won since beating Topsham on the first day of the season – have left Molton one place and a point ahead of second-bottom Withycombe. Molton would have been in the bottom two themselves had Withycombe fulfilled their home game against leaders Torquay Athletic.
