North East builders’ merchant J T Dove has announced it has raised £250,000 for CHUF (The Children’s Heart Unit Fund) over the last decade. The Newcastle business’s team last year raised £33,847, helping it to reach the milestone figure for CHUF, which provides support to children and families undergoing vital cardiac care at the Freeman Hospital’s Children’s Heart Unit and other hospitals across the North.

Bakery giant Greggs is set to launch the next phase of its pledge to make the world a better place after hitting a number of milestones last year. The Newcastle business first created The Greggs Pledge in 2021, setting out 10 commitments aimed at improving the planet, which it outlined in its annual sustainability report. The pledge includes targets to reduce food insecurity, protect animal welfare and lower its environmental impact.

Construction is under way on a £12m development which could bring 185 jobs to South Yorkshire. Carnell Management Services (CMS) is delivering the new commercial development called Kestrel Park, just off Junction 36 of the M1 in Barnsley, with backing from Barnsley Council’s Property Investment Fund and the South Yorkshire Jessica Fund. The new development will serve up 77,411 sqft of industrial space across seven units, ranging from 3,000 sqft to 21,500 sqft.
