Austin Reaves was far from the only player on the Los Angeles Lakers with a less than stellar performance in Game 1 against the Minnesota Timberwolves. The team as a whole just didn’t step up and were dominated on both ends of the court in a disappointing playoff opener in front of their home crowd. The Lakers actually led by seven after the first quarter, but found themselves down double-digits by halftime due in large part to the Timberwolves’ hot shooting from 3-point range.

A large portion of Southern California was greatly affected by the wildfires that spread throughout the area in January. The most destructive of those occurred in the Palisades, which wound up being the third-most destructive in California history, even affecting Los Angeles Lakers head coach JJ Redick and his family and causing many events and games to be postponed or cancelled.
