    HILLSDALE — The Hillsdale County Sheriff's Office is now carrying special equipment in every patrol car and at the jail to improve interactions for members of the community with Autism Spectrum Disorder. A grant by the University of Michigan - Flint provided deputies with autism sensory kits, which Sheriff Scott Hodshire said will lead to more positive interaction for persons with ASD. Each kit includes a multi-textured stuffed animal, a variety of fidget devices, earmuffs and sunglasses.

    ADRIAN — The family of U.S. Army Air Corps Staff Sergeant Ralph L. Mourer, missing in action since 1944, was joined by veterans, service members and the greater community to finally lay him to rest Monday, May 19, in Adrian. Mourer, a radio operator on a B-24 bomber flying over Germany, was killed in action in the spring of 1944 when an enemy fighter aircraft shot his bomber down near Salzwedel, Germany.
