There could be a new tax for Stearns, Benton and Sherburne County residents. The St. Cloud Regional Airport Authority Board is considering a new tax levy, Airport Director Bill Towle told St. Cloud City Council members on May 19. The potential tax comes as the airport struggles with a roughly 5% budget deficit, or $100,000. Towle said the tax would likely be $4.41 annually for a house valued at $200,000. However, Towle said it's still being determined.

Two semi-truck drivers were sent to the hospital after an Interstate 94 accident on May 20. The Minnesota State Patrol responded to the accident at roughly 11 a.m. Tuesday on Interstate 94 near mile marker 196 in Monticello, according to an incident report. Two semi trucks allegedly collided while traveling east on I-94 and slid into the ditch, hitting an embankment.

St. Cloud police Officer Justin Wagman was enjoying his time off when he saw someone with a warrant out for their arrest. On Dec. 8, Wagman called his on-duty colleagues to coordinate an arrest at a parking lot near the Crossroads Center mall. However, it wasn't a seamless arrest. The suspect tried to evade officers and ran toward the mall. Justin Wagman (left) received the medal of commendation at the May 19, 2025 St. Cloud City Council meeting.
