GREENVILLE — The fate of a historic but dilapidated downtown building now rests in the hands of a third potential buyer — a local father and son with visions of casual dining and second-story apartments. During Tuesday’s meeting, the Greenville City Council voted unanimously to accept a new proposal for the sale and renovation of 216 S. Lafayette St. — a two-story, 2,800-square-foot building that has sat vacant for more than a decade — for $80,000.

The Quad printing facility in Greenville will close operations on May 16, displacing its 72 employees, the company announced on Wednesday. According to a company statement provided to the Daily News, Quad — formerly known as QuadGraphics — announced to employees at its Greenville facility at 1321 E. Van Deinse St. this morning that it will cease print manufacturing operations by May 16. “This business decision was driven by overcapacity in the printing industry,” the statement read.
Eureka Township Board accepts amended contract for reduced sheriff’s deputy coverage

EUREKA TOWNSHIP — Dedicated police coverage from the Montcalm County Sheriff’s Office in Eureka Township has been reduced by half. During Monday’s meeting of the Eureka Township Board, trustees voted unanimously to accept an amended contract from the Sheriff’s Office, which will result in going from coverage of two deputies to one. The board opted to accept the amended contract versus outright terminating it (the latter of which the villages of Edmore and Howard City did).
