Research in contextAntimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a growing public health threat globally. In Fiji, the burden of AMR has not been fully investigated. Available data from outbreak investigations showed high rates of healthcare associated infections from multidrug resistant (MDR) organisms. There is a need to better understand the antimicrobial susceptibility profile of common bacterial pathogens and describe the type and rates of MDR bacterial pathogens in Fiji.

The National Weather Service in Topeka will conduct a statewide tornado drill on Wednesday at 11 a.m. The test will be broadcast over and local TV and Radio stations. Local officials may sound their sirens as well. The National Weather Service encourages people to participate in the drill as if it were real. This includes seeking shelter in your home, residence, business, or at an approved community shelter.

Pocket Potato Productions, or PPP, is a queer-owned and run organization founded by members of Restaurant, Pub, & Games, or RPG, a former restaurant in Lawrence that hosted events similar to those PPP is continuing to create. Some of the experiences that PPP offers off and on are Drag Bingo at The Burger Stand, trivia every other Tuesday at Grounded Coffee, and Mini Manic Market, an event that features the work of local artists available for purchase, on random Mondays at Replay Lounge.
