The Federal Aviation Administration expects 31 million people to fly over the next few days. “They are expecting it to be the busiest Thanksgiving, actually beating last year’s record, which was also very high,” said Rachel Barth with the Lincoln Airport.     DENTON, Neb. (KLKN) – A tied election in a village outside of Lincoln ended Monday without having to draw lots. Six candidates ran for seats on the Denton Board of Trustees this year; the three with the most votes would be elected. But the Lancaster County Election Commissioner Todd Wiltgen said it was a tight race. There was a tie for third place. “But then there was also, in fourth place, the candidate was one vote behind the two candidates that were tied,” Wiltgen said.

    LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – University of Nebraska-Lincoln students have mixed opinions about the efforts to ban the balloon release celebration at home football games. Red balloons are released from Memorial Stadium after the Husker football team’s first score. And for the third time, UNL’s student government is looking to end the tradition. On Wednesday night, the Association of Students of the University of Nebraska voted unanimously to end the balloon release.

    DAVID CITY, Neb. (KLKN) – Locals are hoping to fill the Butler County Event Center on Wednesday to support volunteer fire departments. The effort comes after seven Butler County fire departments extinguished a wildfire that spread across 750 acres outside of David City last month. Pam Siroky, the organizer of the event, said the fundraiser is a great way to thank the 140 volunteers who helped put out the fire. She said volunteer firefighters sacrifice their time to keep people safe.

    WAVERLY, Neb. (KLKN) – Hot, dry conditions this harvest season made some farmers worried their crops wouldn’t survive.
