Sometimes I lose the moon. It turned full and bright weeks ago, dampening the stars around it, making it easy to walk outside in the so-called dark. Then it waned, rising later and later, until I lost track of where it was. That’s the period called New Moon, when it’s out of view, not even a crescent left behind. My wife calls this an Icarus Moon, when it comes so close to the sun from our point of view we can’t see it. For that handful of days, I feel a little lost.
