Albion got their Women's Super League campaign off to a winning start as they withstood an Everton comeback in a 2-1 victory at Walton Hall Park. A quickfire double from Elisabeth Terland inside the first 15 minutes put Albion comfortably ahead but the much-improved hosts deservedly halved the deficit through Megan Finnigan after the hour mark. Melissa Phillips' side had to dig in to preserve their lead and held on to pick up the three points.

The 288-mile journey from Southport’s Big Help Stadium, where Albion’s under-21s played their Everton counterparts on Friday evening, back to HQ in Lancing, takes around five hours. But head coach Shannon Ruth admitted that a 4-0 victory made the trek seem less arduous - even after a third match on the road in just over a week, following the away wins at Chelsea and Walsall.

Our men's under-21s notched their most convincing win of the season so far, beating Everton 4-0 at Southport’s Big Help Stadium. After riding out an early spell of pressure from the Toffees, Shannon Ruth’s side scored either side of the interval, Samy Chouchane and Jamie Mullins taking advantage of Everton mistakes. As Albion grew more comfortable, Mark O’Mahony notched two more. Ruth had named a side that was much changed from the first two Premier League 2 fixtures of the season.
