Los Matachines has been around for a decade at the church in downtown Columbia, but this year a new member transformed the dance ritual celebrating the birthday of La Virgen de Guadalupe, known in English as Our Lady of Guadalupe.

At Joan and Greg Dyer’s property in south Columbia on a recent afternoon, a crane lifted an 8-foot-tall panel onto a concrete slab.
