Introduction Forests have been severely reduced worldwide as a result of agricultural intensification (Fearnside 2005). This process leads to the rapid decline in species diversity locally (Chase et al. 2020a, b2020b), but the effects of landscape change on regional biodiversity are still unclear. Within a region, declines in diversity are consistently associated with the reduction in overall habitat amount (Fahrig 2003).
