Mohamed Salah scored a vital winner as Liverpool overcame a significant Brighton challenge to win 2-1 and kick-start the title run-in by sending a message to rivals Manchester City and Arsenal. Rather than benefit from not playing for Egypt during the international break, Salah appeared to have suffered from it as it took him almost an hour to find his usual sharpness. Indeed, it was his slack pass which allowed Brighton to take a shock lead inside 90 seconds through Danny Welbeck.

Jade De Grugy bounced back from a first career defeat at the Cheltenham Festival to claim an appropriate success in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Honeysuckle Mares' Novice Hurdle at Fairyhouse. The five-year-old was beaten four lengths into fourth place when well fancied for the Ryanair Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle in the Cotswolds two and a half weeks ago and lined up back on home soil as one of 10 runners for Willie Mullins in this Grade One contest.

Spain's Carlota Ciganda shot a 6-under par 66 on Saturday to grab a share of a three-way tie at the top of the leaderboard at the LPGA's Ford Championship in Gilbert, Arizona. The 42-year-old carded a bogey-free 65 on Saturday to shoot to the top of the leaderboard on nine under par. The American is aiming to become the first player since 2017 to win three straight PGA Tour titles.
