More than a century ago, girls and boys dutifully sat for lessons in the little white schoolhouse in East Hebron. Today, guests are flocking to the SchoolHouse, now a charming Airbnb. Owner Tracy Tilson, who lives in Boca Raton, Florida, purchased the property in 2017 with the goal of turning it into a satellite office for her public relations firm, Tilson PR. “I spend a lot of time up here, so having designated office space seemed like a good idea,” she says.

They say seven is a lucky number, and that is certainly true for Dennis Ciotti and Nancy Larocque, as it took that many years to complete the stunning gardens at their Dover home. The undertaking was the culmination of a long-held dream of Ciotti’s. As a little boy, he walked by this estate on his way to school. One day, the door opened and he got a peek of the grandeur inside. The owner, Mrs. Brown, stood in the entrance.

From the outside, this Lake Sunapee-area home has a traditional New England feel; inside, the owners created a modern, open aesthetic. The exception was the kitchen, where an update was needed. Eager for the house to have a cohesive feel, they approached Annie Ballin of Annie Ballin & Company, in New London, to redesign this important space. The kitchen flows into the living area, which is done in pale hues and features a wall of glass that opens onto the patio.

For a family with three active kids and frequent visitors, any kitchen might feel claustrophobic. In this case, the kitchen in the family’s 1970s Colonial was not only small but also suffered from poor planning. It didn’t integrate well with the dining and living room areas, and it wasn’t big enough for satisfactory entertaining. In fact, the kitchen offered so little space that the former dining room was used as a catch-all for items that wouldn’t fit there.

Sisters, Carmen and Nane originally hail from Venezuela.

Can something as simple as a remodeled bathroom be a dream come true? It was for a Goffstown couple who had lived with one dated family bathroom for almost 20 years. The couple’s 1960s ranch had been built by the husband’s father and was his childhood home. After marrying, he and his wife raised their two children there. The house was beloved but very small and not really meeting their needs. “The family did not want to move,” explains James Ryan of BearHand LLC, in Deering.
