New government plan also includes funding commitments for the Arts Council, Culture Ireland, Music Generation and the Creative Schools programme. Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael have published a draft Programme for Government for the next five years that has been agreed with nine Independent TDs.The 157-page document has two pages on the arts and culture and includes a commitment to ‘assess the Basic Income for Artists [BIA] pilot to maximise its impact’.

A round-up of recent news from Limerick Jazz, NI Music Prize, the Camille Awards, Culture Ireland, West Wicklow Chamber Music Festival and the Contemporary Music Centre, and Tønder Festival. Seventeen-year-old pianist Rory Conneally from Sligo has been announced as Young Irish Jazz Musician 2024. The competition, which is run by Limerick Jazz and takes place every two years, held its final on 17 November at the University Concert Hall in Limerick.
