Ashford Campbell has told how he was drawn to audition for The Drifters Girl after watching pals perform in the acclaimed stage show. The musical will be coming to Dublin’s Bord Gais Energy Theatre later this month for its Irish premiere. The show will be running from Tuesday, January 30 until Saturday February 3. The show tells the tale of The Drifters — one of the world’s greatest vocal groups — and Faye Treadwell, the woman who made them.

Alan Hughes has told how “unbelievable” it is to be celebrating a milestone panto anniversary this Christmas. The Ireland AM co-presenter and Karl Broderick’s panto.ie is celebrating their 25th anniversary this year, with Sammy, Buffy & The Beanstalk — and there are plenty of special plans to mark the milestone. The show, which begins on December 12 at the National Stadium, will see Alan back in the role of Sammy Sausages, and Rob Murphy returning as Buffy.

For the team behind The Playground, developing the creative hub was a chance to create a space for people to meet — and to “build a community where we could all come together and make art”. The Dublin location was launched by Diffusion Lab, an independent management and production company who have been working with established and up-and-coming artists since 2015, in late 2022. More than 700 creatives have come through their doors since then — and the team hopes it can keep growing.
