GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The Florida Board of Governors has rejected Santa Ono as the next president at the University of Florida. The decision comes as some state leaders, including Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, had concerns about Ono taking the helm at Florida's flagship university. Some elected officials criticized Ono for supporting diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives in the past, which he publicly supported while president at the University of Michigan.
