TRUE is a “zero waste certification program that guides facilities, portfolios, events and construction sites to design waste out of their system,” (Byrne, 2023).

Begun in 2019, the Circularity conferences are produced by GreenBiz Group, a media and event company dedicated to a just transition to a clean economy. This year attracted almost 1300 attendees, offered 104 sessions and drew more than 300 speakers. Convened in Chicago, attendees represented corporations as well as entrepreneurs, nonprofits, trade associations, investors, public agencies and policy experts.

As more organizations set ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) targets for sustainability and the circular economy, landfill diversion is an increasingly important factor. The EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) reported that less than 10% of the carpets and rugs manufactured in the U.S. are recycled, with over 72% ending up in a landfill. The Tarkett ReStart program is changing that. Meet ReStartBetween 2010 and 2023, the ReStart program has taken back about 119,000 tons of flooring globally.
