    “Insanity is not a strategy.”Credit CNBC’s senior economics reporter Steve Liesman for last month so accurately summing up Donald Trump’s bizarre campaign to blackmail Canada into surrendering its sovereignty as an independent country. Trump has openly and repeatedly acknowledged the goal of his surreal trade war with Canada is to coerce our neighbor into becoming America’s 51st state. This in itself isn’t that shocking, because I’ve long believed the guy is a deranged loon.

    Charles Q. Brown is a real-life Maverick, the iconic fighter pilot portrayed by Tom Cruise in the mega-popular “Top Gun” movies. Brown not only graduated as a young aviator from the Air Force Weapons School – the branch’s equivalent of the Navy’s Top Gun program – he later returned as an F-16 Fighting Falcon instructor. Then, in 2005, he was assigned to a two-year stint as commandant of the Weapons School, located at Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada.
