    The artists behind Loyno Costume Shop stay busy capturing and creating campus fashion through their many projects. The production team is known for showcasing student style on Instagram. The costume shop also hosts an annual costume BOOtique Sale and makes costumes for each theater production. Three years ago, psychology and theater student Adele Colson created @loynocostumeshop to spread the word of the hard work crafted within the costume shop.

    Loyola theater art’s latest production follows the downfalls and tribulations of seven Black women in the 1970s, told through dance and poetic monologues. Dance instructor Kai Knight directed “for coloured girls who have considered suicide/when the rainbow is enuf,” shown in Loyola’s Marquette Theater. Theater arts majors Justice Mosley and Yalani Warren said costuming and makeup were important parts of bringing the adaptation to life.

    April 14, 2024 Biology Pre-Health junior Rowan Sawyer passed a bill within the Student Government Association for the inclusion of crawfish composting on campus. For the general body of Loyola, however, a question remains: what is crawfish composting? “Composting is natural recycling that makes nutrient-rich soil. Crawfish composting is the same thing, despite them having a tough exterior,” Sawyer said.

    Make way, Loyola — an anniversary is in the works! Loyola’s Azby Greenhouse, located on the roof of Monroe Hall, is celebrating 10 years since its opening later this year. The Azby Greenhouse has provided an eco-friendly, sustainable space for students within environmental sciences and biology.

    Director of Environmental Law Marianne Cufone, alongside a team of dedicated Loyola students, collaborated on a new environmental initiative titled “Green Roofs are COOL,” which won $10,000 for a promotional video which garnered a People’s Choice Award. “Green Roofs are COOL” focuses on providing a cleaner environment and fresh produce by planting greenery on any roof within New Orleans.
