I have too many important tasks during my workday to leave anything to chance in the hazy, slanted dawn. Failure is not on my schedule for tomorrow. So tonight, I will once again pack a lunch, lay out my clothes, and set up the coffee pot. Before arriving at work in the morning, I will know who I will be seeing and—often—why they are coming to me. If, for some reason, I haven’t looked in advance, I do so at 5:30 a.m. when I roll over in bed.

My heart goes out to the doctors who write about the unbearable burdens of doctoring in a corporate setting, feeling driven to see more patients than they want to within the span of an 8-hour clinic day. They’re tasked with dividing their time into shorter and shorter clinic visits, devoting more time to inputting data points into the EMR rather than engaging in meaningful patient conversations. I have experienced both ends of this kind of care—being a provider and a recipient.

As human needs continue to evolve, it is essential for our systems to adapt accordingly. One perplexing question is who bears the cost of human work. Do the systems pay for human labor, or do humans contribute to the systems, which, in turn, pay for their work? From an economic perspective, it boils down to humans paying for humans to work through human-devised systems. We won’t delve into the idea of environments paying for humans’ expanding needs, as that discussion can be saved for another time.

I was doing laundry last week when my engagement ring snagged on a shirt. Upon closer inspection, I noticed that one of the four prongs holding the diamond in place was sticking up and on the verge of breaking. Quickly, I took off the ring and placed it in a safe spot, relieved that it hadn’t accidentally gone down the drain. Shortly after, a sense of overwhelm washed over me as I realized I had to figure out where to get it fixed—a task to add to my already busy life.

Loading of ports/protocols/services list for easier add/edit. Universal patch vulnerability format for patch scans. Loading compliance statements and mitigation statements from .xlsx, .csv, or JSON. Expanded API for improved automation and integration. And updated 3rd party Keycloak and Elastic Stack components for OpenJDK fixes.
