    Tributes have been paid to Pope Francis, who has died aged 88, the Vatican have confirmed. Pope Francis, who was the first Latin American leader of the Roman Catholic Church, had been recovering following a serious bout of double pneumonia. His death was confirmed via a video statement from the Vatican. Speaking on the Vatican's TV channel, Cardinal Kevin Farrell said this. "Dear brothers and sisters, it is with profound sadness I must announce the death of our Holy Father Francis", he announced.
