Australian cricket is on Sunday mourning the loss of Bob Cowper, who dominated the sport and then shocked everyone by retiring at only 28. Cowper died in Melbourne on Saturday morning after a long battle with cancer, aged 84. He is survived by wife Dale and daughters Olivia and Sera. Cowper played 27 Tests between 1964 and 1968, and scored 2061 runs at 46.84.

The fallout from the Melbourne Storm's cancellation of its Anzac Day Welcome to Country ceremony has continued, with a key sponsor and community partner pulling the pin on the club. In a statement, the Victorian Aboriginal Health Service said the cancellation showed "a lack of respect and cultural sensitivity towards Aboriginal people". The VAHS sponsorship was through the club's Deadly Choices campaign, an initiative with the Institute for Urban Indigenous Health.
