The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has confirmed the arrest of one Chinaza Phillip, a notorious Kidnapper operating in Abuja. SP Josephine Adeh, Police Public Relations Officer for FCT command, said the suspect was apprehended by operatives of the Kaduna State Police Command on Thursday 18th January, 2024. He added that the suspect has been handed over to FCT police Command on Friday 19th January, 2024, and currently in police custody.

Osun State Government has reinstated Prof. Jimoh Afolabi, the embattled Provost of the state-owned College of Education, Ila-Orangun. The government also ordered that the status quo be maintained pending the outcome of investigations. It was recalled that the Provost was suspended by Peter Babalola, the Chairman of the Governing Council of the college for alleged financial misappropriation.

The Lagos State Government has sealed nine hotels and a company over noise pollution and other environmental violations. This enforcement was carried out by officials of the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA), which revealed this on its X handle on Thursday evening. The environmental protection agency said the nine facilities were closed down to safeguard the environment from pollution and other violations in the state.

Jigawa State Government has suspended the the state’s COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus Programme (JCARES) project coordinator over alleged misappropriation and abuse of contract. Alhaji Sagir Musa, Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sports and Culture, made this known during a news conference on Friday in Dutse, the state capital. This is as he also disclosed that the government has also suspended the desk officers of the program in 27 local government areas of the state.
