A large oak tree in a West Yorkshire market town has been felled after weeks of public debate about its future. The tree, in Otley, was cut down as Leeds City Council said it needed to make way for vital repairs on the footway of the main bridge over the River Wharfe. The move, which was first planned before Christmas, divided opinion among residents. There were scuffles on Friday morning as protesters tried to stop the tree being removed.

The director of a west Cornwall tourist attraction has been describing how he used a "Bleed Control Kit" to help a friend. Nick Reynolds, from Paradise Park, has been part of the drive to get the bright red kits installed in Hayle. They contain trauma dressings, gauze for wounds and a tourniquet and are mounted next to defibrillator stations. Nick was inspired by Lynne Baird's campaign which she set up after her son was stabbed and died eight years ago.

By Dan BaterBBC South WestA series of photographs showing people coping with the coronavirus lockdowns has gone on display in Cornwall. Photographer Annie Bungeroth's Unfamiliar Distance exhibition shows people from St Hilary, Goldsithney and Rosudgeon in 2020 and 2021. Ms Bungeroth said the exhibition name referred to the strict Covid protocols that herself and her subjects had to adhere to during the project. Most of the shots were taken from far away, or through windows and screens.

I've loved editing two videos on Ruth's inspiring fundraising efforts over the past fortnight! So much fantastic footage to fit into 1 minute 30, hopefully I did it justice👇

Had no idea how many people were in the pro-marzipan camp 😬 I don’t think I could be less of a fan

Apparently marzipan is as divisive as Marmite. @Production_DanB has polled his friends and it was around 50/50. Is it a sweet yellow delicacy or a nasty yellow ooze added to cakes by people with no taste buds? I reckon home made is good, the mass produced stuff is vile https://t.co/jOiH9SiB7X
