Zayden Anderson grew a big smile on his face when he reminisced about last year’s Les Schwab Bowl. Who could blame him? Anderson, then coming off his junior year as the quarterback for the Seaside High School football team, had an astonishing performance for Team Columbia in its 39-26 win over Team Willamette in the 2024 all-star football tilt. In the victory, Anderson completed all five of his passes for 110 yards and three touchdowns.

Football and family. For Bobby Blanchet, they go hand-in-hand. In fact, because of family, Blanchet decided to make a big change in his life when it comes to football. Blanchet, who played football at Central Catholic this past fall as a junior and helped the Rams go 11-1 on the season, will finish his high school career at Aloha. “I just recently transferred, second semester,” Blanchet said. There’s a big reason for that. “My little brother is there. Luca is my little brother,” Blanchet said.

When he was a Churchill High School freshman, Charlie Dexter set a goal. Dexter saw a Lancer upperclassman accomplish something special. He wanted to do it, too. That goal — getting to play in the Les Schwab Bowl. Well, goal achieved. “It’s always been a dream, ever since freshman year,” said Dexter, now a rising senior at Churchill. “We had a senior tight end (Pete Pennington) who played here.

For Cade Mitchell, it’s been a busy week. It’s been an exciting week. It’s been a week full of football. And, without a doubt, it’s been a fun week. A rising senior at Mountainside High School, Mitchell is more than excited to be playing in Friday night’s Les Schwab Bowl, a high school football all-star game featuring many of the top players from around the state of Oregon, as well as southwest Washington, which will be played at Lewis & Clark College in Portland.

Zeke Thomas is young. He’s very young, especially compared with the other football players on the field at Lewis & Clark College this week. He knows that, and, with that in mind the Willamette High School rising sophomore is looking to make the most of his opportunity to learn, compete, improve and make some valuable relationships while playing at quarterback for Team Willamette in Friday’s Les Schwab Bowl.
