There are varying versions of responses to property tax increases across Wyoming. Lincoln County leads the way with the highest rate increase in the past four years, 112.6 percent. Teton County is close behind at 111 percent. Some counties didn’t experience those drastic changes. Sweetwater was at 19.5 percent and Natrona a 35.7 percent. That’s just a sampling of what is happening across the state.

An estimated 250 jobs. That’s probably what we lost in direct numbers when changes with the management of the Bridger-Teton National Forest ultimately resulted in the closure of Star Valley’s timber mill operations before the turn of the century. In addition to the jobs, there was the ripple effect to the valley and regional economy.

• New P&Z board member welcomedThe Alpine Town Council moved an annexation project forward and welcomed a new member to the community’s planning and zoning board at the Jan. 21 meeting. Rachael Stewart was given the oath of office by Mayor Eric Green for her new position on the Alpine Planning and Zoning Board. Resolution 2025-004, the Snake River Junction Annexation Petition Certification, was approved by the council and moved forward in the town’s process.

• Board will be formed with town representativesRepresentatives from the Lincoln County’s towns, chambers and economic development groups met in a conference call this week to make plans for a unified effort to promote tourism. Lincoln County Economic Development Director Bob King directed the meeting for a statewide program that will be coordinated with the Wyoming Department of Tourism.
