There will be a lot of Nintendo Switch 2 consoles leaving their boxes today after certainly weeks and probably months of cardboard imprisonment. But there’s one thing that Nintendo has had to tell new owners that they should not do as part of the small print. The Switch 2 screen has a layer of film over it – and you must not take it off. In the manual, Nintendo tells users not to take off the layer of film – it’s there for protection in case the display is fully smashed (hopefully by accident).

It’s nearly time for Glastonbury 2025 and mobile network Vodafone has revealed its updated Glastonbury phone app (available for iOS and Android) which is obviously a must-have if you’re going to the festival. The app includes a few new features, but crucially there’s one that’s going to be a bit of a gamechanger for groups split across the vast 900 acre site. The new version is the OnePlus 13S but it comes with a pretty big caveat – you can only get it in India at the moment. That’s great news if you live there, but it won’t be launching in the US or Europe at present.

Apps stopping support for older hardware is a normal occurrence – but it’s still inconvenient for those affected. WhatsApp has announced it’s stopping hardware support for three key iPhones and numerous Android phones stuck on older operating systems. WhatsApp will now require iOS 15.1 or later or Android 5.1 or later. That means that three iPhones are now no longer supported – the colorful 2013 iPhone 5s as well as 2014’s iPhone 6 and the first larger iPhone, the 6 Plus.
