New driving duo Alex Albon and Carlos Sainz will be seeking to elevate fortunes at Williams for the 2025 Formula 1 season. An offseason overhaul of design and manufacturing processes meant Williams started 2024 on the backfoot with an overweight car. The team spent a large portion of the campaign stripping back that weight and thus only added a true performance package at the Dutch Grand Prix in August.

Mercedes Team Principal Toto Wolff has admitted “we don’t know where are” with 2026 Formula 1 engine development. 2026 will see the introduction of new power unit (PU) regulations in F1. Sustainable fuels will be implemented, the MGU-H will be scrapped and there will be an approximate 50/50 power split between electric and internal combustion. Mercedes is hotly tipped to be a PU front-runner in 2026, as it was when the hybrid era of F1 began in 2014.

FIA Formula 3 graduates Gabriele Mini and Luke Browning lead the latest driver announcements as the 2025 Formula 2 grid takes shape. Mini and Browning both starred in this year’s F3 title chase with Prema and Hitech respectively, finishing second and third respectively in the Drivers’ Championship. Both have since made their debuts in F2, Mini with Prema in Azerbaijan and Browning with ART Grand Prix in Azerbaijan, Qatar and Abu Dhabi.

Lando Norris led a dominant McLaren one-two in the second practice session of the Formula 1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Norris clocked in a best time of 1:23.517s, two-tenths ahead of team-mate Oscar Piastri, who in turn was a further two-tenths clear of the rest of the field. The evening session at the Yas Marina Circuit was important for two reasons. Firstly conditions were more representative compared to what the drivers will experience in Qualifying and the race.

Charles Leclerc is relishing a “special” moment with his brother Arthur as they prepare to contest FP1 at the Formula 1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix together with Ferrari. Arthur Leclerc has been selected by Ferrari to fill its rookie requirement in opening practice at the Yas Marina Circuit and the post-season test. That makes the Leclerc duo the first brothers to compete in a competitive F1 session with the same team in the history of the sport.

Carlos Sainz has set a goal of winning the Formula 1 Constructors’ Championship in Abu Dhabi with Ferrari in what would be “the perfect goodbye.”Ferrari trails McLaren by 21 points in the Constructors’ standings ahead of the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Sainz’s last race with the team. The Spaniard has known all season long that he will be replaced by Lewis Hamilton next year and he will move on to Williams in 2025.

Ferrari is set to make Formula 1 history during the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix as it prepares to field Charles and Arthur Leclerc in opening practice. For the first time in F1’s history, two brothers will compete in a competitive session for the same team as Arthur joins Charles in FP1 at the Yas Marina Circuit. Arthur Leclerc will also participate in the post-season rookie test at Abu Dhabi, sharing the Ferrari SF-24 with Le Mans winner Antonio Fuoco.

RB’s Yuki Tsunoda hilarious misheard radio communication during the Formula 1 Qatar Grand Prix that led him to believe there was a beaver on track. The Qatar GP changed dramatically when Alex Albon’s Williams saw a wing mirror shake loose on Lap 30. When that was struck by Sauber’s Valtteri Bottas, triggering debris and a Safety Car, chaos ensued behind eventual winner Max Verstappen.

The FIA has explained why it issued Lando Norris a stop-and-go penalty in the Formula 1 Qatar Grand Prix along with its management of Safety Car procedures. A loose wing mirror flying off of Alex Albon’s Williams set off a chain reaction that altered the course of the Qatar GP on Sunday. One impact was felt keenly by Norris, who was punished with a 10-second stop-and-go penalty for failing to slow through yellow flags at Turn 1 where the mirror lay in the middle of the track.
