Hearing TSN president Stewart Johnston has emerged as the leading candidate to become the next CFL commissioner. He would replace Randy Ambrosie, who announced in October his plan to retire in 2025 once his replacement was named.

Hearing Trey Laing, a 6-3, 243-pound DL at Eastern Michigan, will be added to next month’s CFL draft. Laing is a Florida native but has been granted national status as his father, Trace, is from Mississauga. The elder Laing was also a DL with the Toronto Argonauts in 1994.

Hearing LB linebacker Ayinde (Ace) Eley, who was released Friday by the BC Lions, has been agreed to terms with the Ottawa Redblacks.
