Arbuckle’s heroics came after Brett Lauther missed a 33-yard field goal at 12:58 to put Saskatchewan (3-0) ahead 32-24 and keep Toronto (0-3) in the game. Tommy Stevens’ two-yard scoring run at 4:38 put Saskatchewan ahead 31-21. Lirim Hajrullahu’s 25-yard field goal at 8:02 pulled Toronto to within 31-24. Saskatchewan’s wins have all come against East Division teams. Toronto — 0-3 for the first time since 2019 — came into the contest short-handed.

Hamilton Tiger-Cats general manager Ted Goveia says he has been diagnosed with "a serious form of cancer that's spread."In a story posted on the club's website Friday, Goveia, 55, said the diagnosis was made in April. Although there was no specific mention as to the form of the disease, two league sources said Goveia is battling esophageal cancer. "I wanted to keep my health condition in house until we had a chance to build our team and pick our final roster," he said.

HAMILTON — Jamal Peters and DaShaun Amos are together again. The veteran defensive backs reunited this off-season when Amos signed with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. They were 2022 Grey Cup champions with the Toronto Argonauts. Amos, a field-side halfback, won another Grey Cup last season with Toronto before signing with Hamilton in free agency. With plenty of gentle persuasion from Peters, a boundary cornerback.

Not a surprise, Chad Kelly will start the season on the injured list and Nick Arbuckle will start for Toronto versus Montreal on Friday night. Argos head coach Ryan Dinwiddie says Kelly’s status will be re-evaluated next week.
