The soaking rain is finally done, paving the way for midweek highs in the low-70s under partly sunny skies -- once we clear out patchy dense fog this morning. A weak cold front tonight will deliver some scattered showers Thursday morning, cooling highs temporarily back near 60F and keeping a lake breeze going through Friday. Mother’s Day weekend is still on pace for high pressure to win out, leaving us with the 70s again and a decent dose of Vitamin D — and flirting with the 80s past the weekend.

Showers have returned this morning, with the strongest surge expected now through mid-afternoon coming from the southeast. Some locations could see over an inch of rainfall, as northeast gusts keep us to the 50s again. Monday will bring more (non-severe) scattered storms from the southeast, though highs will warm to the mid-60s — and mid-70s by Wednesday as the stubborn low slowly clears east. High pressure then takes hold as we enter a lovely Mother’s Day weekend in the 70s.

It’s not the best weather for Cedar Point opening weekend, as light to moderate showers will keep surging up from the southwest all day — and from the southeast Sunday, especially in the morning. 1″+ of rainfall is possible through the weekend, with northeast gusts off the lake past 35 mph tomorrow. The new week marks a turning point, with highs in the mid-60s — though the “cutoff low” will continue to deliver scattered thundershowers.

We’re tracking thundershowers racing east-northeast through the afternoon hours, some of which could put out some hail and gusty winds east of I-75. A “cutoff low” will keep flinging scattered showers our way all through Cedar Point opening weekend, most likely Saturday PM and Sunday AM. Highs will struggle to get out of the 50s until Monday, reaching the 70s and starting to dry out by the midweek.
