    Matt Carpenter, a three-time All-Star who played 14 major league seasons, is retiring from baseball. He made the announcement Wednesday on Sports Spectrum's "Get in the Game" podcast hosted by former teammate Scott Linebrink. Carpenter, an infielder, was selected by the Cardinals in the 13th round of the 2009 MLB Draft out of TCU. He spent his first 11 seasons with St. Louis (2011-21), followed by single seasons with the Yankees in 2022 and Padres in 2023.

    Michigan coach Sherrone Moore expected to be suspended for two games for the upcoming 2025 Wolverine season as part of self-imposed sanctions by the university in regards to the Connor Stalions advanced scouting scandal, industry sources tell ESPN. The suspensions will be for Michigan's third and fourth-week opponents -- Central Michigan and Nebraska -- and will include being barred from any team-related duties during those weeks. Moore will also receive additional recruiting-related penalties.

The five were identified during a state investigation into sports wagering activities in campus athletic facilities from 2021-23. They face no criminal charges.
