In fact, one such town, Burnham on Crouch, was named by Halifax among the top 10 seaside towns with the largest increases in average house price between 2012 and 2022.

    Contrary to popular belief, only 45 per cent of the London Underground is actually underground. Despite its name suggesting otherwise, nearly every single line has some section above ground. The Victoria line and Waterloo and City lines are the only exceptions, being completely underground. However, neither of these lines contain the network's longest tunnel. This title goes to the Northern line, which remains underground for a whopping 27.8km from East Finchley to Morden via Bank.

    The Bank of England, one of the world's most historic financial institutions, has called the City of London its home since 1734. Besides its daily activities, the bank also serves as a storage facility, with eight vaults beneath the building housing the UK's entire reserve of gold bullion bars. It is believed that these vaults currently hold more than £100 billion worth of gold, with each bar weighing around 12kg.

    The London Underground network is home to numerous abandoned and repurposed stations, being used for a weird and wonderful range of activities from escape rooms to apartment blocks. Given the vast number of stations, it's not surprising that some are repurposed - but it's quite rare for this to happen to a station that's still operational. Hyde Park Corner Station on the Piccadilly line, built in 1906, is one such example.
