Tewksbury — In a matinee game staged last Saturday at the Breakaway Ice Center, the Wilmington High boys hockey team was dealt a season-ending 6-2 defeat by North Reading in the MIAA Division 4 Round of 16. The Wildcats were unable to rally back after yielding a trio of second-period goals to their neighbor and natural rival. Wilmington wrapped up the 2024-25 campaign with a 5-17 overall record, 5th of the seven clubs that make up the Middlesex League’s Freedom Division.

WILMINGTON — On the heels of a 48-6 defeat to Chelmsford in an endowment game a week earlier, the Wilmington High football team set its sights on last Friday’s visit by non-league opponent North Reading as an opportunity to bounce back in the season opener. The Hornets had other plans, however, as they ran roughshod over their host, 52-18. On the strength of five first-half touchdowns, North Reading had amassed what proved to be an insurmountable 38-12 advantage at the break.

After sustaining back-to-back defeats last week to Burlington and Lincoln-Sudbury, the Stoneham-Wilmington High girls ice hockey team bounced back last Wednesday night, skating to a decisive 6-3 win over rival Wakefield. Stoneham-Wilmington improved to 6-3 overall, 3-2 in the Middlesex League’s Freedom Division, good for second place. The team trails Burlington by a game in the win column. Wakefield, with the defeat, remains winless on the season at 0-6-1.
