ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - After seeing a mostly sunny day today with just a few storms around, more numerous near the Florida border, South Georgia looks to be in line for more rain and thunderstorms for Memorial Day into the first part of the abbreviated work week. A line of strong to severe thunderstorms moving towards the area from Alabama will lose much of its intensity before arriving, but it will also lay down boundaries that will help to fire new storms once daytime heating kicks in.

ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - After a summerlike week that saw high temperatures pushing 90 degrees, a cold front will move through South Georgia over the weekend, bringing increased chances for showers and thunderstorms. We saw some severe weather to our north this afternoon and evening with reports of trees down and large hail in northern Georgia and Alabama; while we may see one or two storms touch severe limits tomorrow, we’re not expecting widespread rough weather.

ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - After a warm and almost summerlike past week, some changes are in the offing in South Georgia’s weather for the first weekend and first full week of May. Prior to those changes, though, we’ll squeeze out one more dry day Friday with highs in the middle to upper 80s. While there will be some cloud cover around, shower chances will be very low, primarily driven by a sea breeze that will move through the area later in the day from the Florida Big Bend coast.

ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - A line of strong to severe thunderstorms brought gusty winds and large hail to parts of north Georgia, but as expected, the line weakened greatly as it approached our area, bringing only light to moderate rainfall to parts of south Georgia. That rainfall and associated cloud cover will clear the area later this morning, but sunny skies will be countered by gusty northwest winds that will keep highs into the mid to upper 70s.

ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - After a rough start to the week, the cold front that brought Monday’s severe weather has delivered a cool and dry air mass to South Georgia for this week. Temperatures are primarily in the 40s this morning and will reach highs in the mid to upper 70s today, actually near average levels for this time of year.
