"Get in, loser, we're going to the movies," is what I recommend telling your best friend this weekend. "Joy Ride" will take you on its own hilarious spin of the raunchy buddy comedy sub-genre like "Superbad," "Bridesmaids," "Girls Trip" and "The Hangover." I mention these other movies not to suggest "Joy Ride" will remind you of something else it's drawing from, but to say I'm confident it will carve out its own place among fondly remembered 21st-century comedies.

A supposedly real Craigslist ad from helicopter parents seeking a young woman to "date" (have sex with) their college-bound introvert son is the inspiration for "No Hard Feelings." It's a bizarre, icky request, but also the impetus for Hollywood minds to make a movie that's an attempted throwback to the raunchy comedies of 20 years ago.

"Nicolas Cage as Dracula" is quite possibly the easiest sell ever for a movie, at least for me; add in the fact it’s a comedy — and not unintentionally, as some of the more regrettable Cage movies are — also starring Nicholas Hoult, Awkwafina and Ben Schwartz, and I can feel the money leaving my wallet faster than a vampire transforms into a bat.
