JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — It’s hard to call 2024 anything but a disappointment for Arik Armstead. The Jaguars signed Armstead to a three-year, $43.5 million contract, however, it wasn’t enough to find his way into the starting lineup as Armstead started just one game for the Jaguars. In large part, his lack of playtime and success can be attributed to the strange decision from the coaching staff to play Armstead at defensive end, despite his well-documented success along the interior.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jaguars’ run game has struggled to bring much support to Trevor Lawrence and the Jacksonville Jaguars in recent years. While Travis Etienne managed to cross the 1,000-yard threshold in 2023, his yards per attempt plummeted from 5.1 YPA in 2022 to just 3.8.The last two seasons, the Jaguars’ offense posted back-to-back seasons ranking dead last in yards before contact.

The unit wasn’t as porous as years past, however, run-blocking remained a problem as did the health of Trevor Lawrence. The problems compounded when Mitch Morse announced he would be retiring, leaving Jacksonville with two starting spots open along the interior as Brandon Scherff was also entering Free Agency.
