Pop-up hotel operator Placemakr has taken over a block of multifamily units at The Stacks in Buzzard Point as the project's development team, including by Akridge, seeks to lease up around 1,100 apartment units spread over three residential towers. Prospective residents will be able to check-in for overnight, weekly and monthly stays in The Byron, one of three residential towers that delivered as part of the larger project at 101 V St. SW.

A former MGM Resorts International (NYSE: MGM) executive is getting ready to open a classic American restaurant and bar by Eastern Market. Adam Shulman, who was the hospitality, entertainment and gaming company's director of nightlife and events for nearly seven years, is eyeing a mid-April opening for the Lobby Bar. The roughly 2,000-square-foot restaurant at 224 Seventh St. SE is replacing Boxcar Tavern, which closed in summer 2024 after a run of nearly two decades.

The restaurant, famous for its soup dumplings, is one of several new tenants coming to the waterfront entertainment destination. Nan Xiang Xiao Long Bao, a Michelin Guide- honored Chinese restaurant that got its start in New York and has ties to the D.C. area, is headed to suburban Maryland. The restaurant, best known for its soup dumplings, has signed a lease at National Harbor for 6,253 square feet. The space, at 180 American Way, was formerly occupied by Potomac Gourmet Market.

Founding Farmers is almost ready to take the wraps off its newest location in Alexandria, nearly two years after signing on for space in Stonebridge's long-awaited development in Oakville Triangle. The roughly 9,200-square-foot restaurant at 461 Swann Ave. will be the first new outpost for the company since Reston Station nearly seven years ago.
