The property was auctioned Thursday morning after an affiliate of its owner defaulted on a loan. Lenders cast the lone bid Thursday for the Embassy Suites by Hilton at the Chevy Chase Pavilion after the property's owner defaulted on a loan backed by the 198-room Friendship Heights hotel. A representative for Los Angeles investment manager PCCP LLC bid $12.25 million for the property at the foreclosure sale, conducted by Alex Cooper Auctioneers.

Neighborhood restaurateur Greg Casten’s what you might call an early adopter. He was part of the group that signed the first lease at Washington Harbour along Georgetown’s waterfront. Tony & Joe’s Seafood Place, which opened in 1987, continues to reap the rewards, despite hardship including a 2011 flood that drenched it and another of his restaurants, Nick’s Riverside Grill.

The lease is part of an expanding regional footprint for the fitness center. Planet Fitness has inked a deal for part of the former Kohl's space in Herndon, adding to an expanding footprint that includes dozens of clubs across Greater Washington. The chain will lease part of the excess space being subleased by discount grocer Lidl, which leased all of the 105,700-square-foot former Kohl's at 2100 Centerville Road about a year ago.

Pop-up hotel operator Placemakr has taken over a block of multifamily units at The Stacks in Buzzard Point as the project's development team, including by Akridge, seeks to lease up around 1,100 apartment units spread over three residential towers. Prospective residents will be able to check-in for overnight, weekly and monthly stays in The Byron, one of three residential towers that delivered as part of the larger project at 101 V St. SW.
