A new report predicts Canada’s economy to slow during the second half of the year and says it could stall further if Canada loses some tariff exemptions. Deloitte released an economic outlook Wednesday outlining how U.S. trade policies could impact Canada’s economy. Deloitte said it is forecasting a “modest downturn” during the second and third quarter of the year, with gross domestic product shrinking 1.1 per cent and 0.9 per cent respectively.

A new survey from EQ Bank finds Canadians are adjusting their spending habits amid economic uncertainty and pausing on larger purchases to build up emergency savings. The survey found that 53 per cent of respondents increased the size of their emergency savings over the past three months or are considering doing so. Another 45 per cent of respondents indicated they are holding off on major purchases are live events, in order to prioritize building up their emergency savings.

As PepsiCo Inc. shares were trading lower on Thursday after the release of its latest earnings, one analyst says the company’s outlook was disappointing, but maintained a buy rating on the stock. PepsiCo shares fell just over four per cent during early afternoon trading Thursday, as the company lowered its full-year profit outlook amid unpredictable U.S. trade policy and declines in consumer sentiment, Bloomberg News reported.
