Published 4:26 pm Friday, June 20, 2025 By DANIEL LOCKE | Staff WriterCALERA – The suspect accused of firing a weapon in the parking lot of the Calera Walmart on the morning of Thursday, June 19, has been identified and arrested. Destanie Nicole Rogers, age 38 of Bessemer, was charged with discharging a gun into an occupied dwelling. Rogers was booked into the Shelby County Jail on Thursday, June 19, and released on Friday, June 20, after posting a $30,000 bond.

The visitors were taught about fire safety and all of the emergency services the Fire Department can provide. They also got to tour the firehouse, see all of the equipment used by the firefighters and even got to sit in the firetruck.

Published 5:34 pm Thursday, June 19, 2025 By DANIEL LOCKE | Staff WriterCALERA – At 11:10 a.m. on Thursday, June 19, the Calera Police Department was called to respond to a shooting in the Walmart Parking lot, located at 5100 U.S. Highway 31. No one was injured during the altercation. Three units were on duty working accidents and responded to the scene. Two school resource officers providing supplemental summer patrol while school is out responded to the scene as well.
