Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has admitted that two Premier League players made him realise that it was time to retire for a second time. After initially stepping away from football in May 2011, the former England international was tempted out of retirement in January 2012. With the club in the middle of an injury crisis, Scholes went on to play for another 16 months before eventually calling time on his career in 2013.

Tuchel will succeed Gareth Southgate as England manager. Thomas Tuchel has agreed to become the new England manager, with details of his contract emerging. The 51-year-old ends the wait for a permanent successor to Gareth Southgate following his exit over the summer. Tuchel has been out of work since leaving Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich at the end of last season. He'll be the Three Lions' first German-born coach and first from overseas since Italian icon Fabio Cappello in 2012.
