The Boys and Girls Player Pathway students will look to enhance their abilities on the pitch, while creating lasting memories away with their teammates.     County U15s progressed to the national final of the EFL U15 Floodlit Cup on Friday evening, as they defeated Burnley U15s 2-0 at Edgeley Park. A brilliant free kick by Oliver Huddleston, followed by a commanding finish by Richard Ilara, set County up for the national final against either Plymouth Argyle or Watford. Goalkeeper Ethan Ashton channelled his inner Gordon Banks to provide one of the best saves Edgeley Park has ever seen in the second half.

    County’s U15 side will play at Edgeley Park once again, as they feature in the EFL U15 Floodlit Cup regional final. The tie will be played on Friday 4th April, kicking off at 7pm. The young Hatters left it late against Burton Albion in the semi-final, as a last-gasp strike from Sam Leach completed County’s comeback after going behind in the first half. Sam Sheridan had brought County level with an instinctive flick earlier in the second half.

The players carried out a day of work experience, attended the ‘Life After Professional Sport’ event in Bolton, took part in a special Q&A, and visited the Professional Footballers Association across the week.

    By Daniel O'Neill “Reading poems and short stories as well as reminiscing can offer comfort and joy to those with dementia.” Those were the words of the Mayor of the County of Cork Cllr Joe Carroll as he spoke about the new 'Come Sit Awhile' initiative which aims to get local writers to share their short stories with people with dementia and their carers. This will be the second volume of ‘Come Sit Awhile’ following a very successful debut.
