    Trades Union Congress (TUC) and the Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) have called on the Minister-designate for Labor, Jobs, and Employment, Abdul-Rashid H. Pelpuo, to begin discussions on salary and minimum wage for public sector workers without delay. According to them, any further delay could affect arrears payments, resulting in agitations on the labor front.

    The Secretary General of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), Wamkele Mene, on Friday, 17th January 2025, paid a courtesy call on ex Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. The visit, according to Wamkele Mene was to express his sincere appreciation to Dr. Bawumia for the support extended to the AfCFTA Secretariat during his tenure as Vice President of Ghana. The discussions also touched on the AfCFTA Digital Trade Protocol, particularly on Cross-Border Digital Payments.

    The Civil and Local Government Staff Association (CLOGSAG) has appealed to President Mahama to scrap agencies such as the Technical, Vocational Education Training (TVET) and Commission for Technical and Vocational Educational Training (COTVET) since they duplicate functions of the Civil Service. According to CLOGSAG, the Civil Service as part of its functions, performs technical and vocational training and it was hived off, which has made some ministries ineffective.

In a statement signed by the General Secretary of TEWU, King James Azortibah, he said the speedy conclusion of the conditions of service will reduce the simmering agitations among its members.

Oganised Labour and the previous government failed to begin negotiations for the 2025 minimum wage and base pay.
