After everything we went through the last few weeks it's going to be so nice to have a quiet forecast for the next several days. We've got one last day with temperatures a little below normal before we start to see the inevitable climb into summer. Some of Sunday's clouds will linger into the first half of the day Monday, but gradually we'll see more and more clearing. Once the sun breaks through Monday we'll remain pretty sunny through the remainder of the week.

It was nice to not think about rain for a full 24 hours. As we head to the weekend, however, we've got to start thinking about more wet weather. Showers and storms will push in out of the Gulf and into the southern half of Acadiana Friday morning. Areas south of I-10 will see widely scattered showers through the first half of the day with a few thunderstorms in the mix. The showers are the result of an elongated low moving across the Gulf before traveling north up the mouth of the Pearl River.

The good news is that there won't be any trickle down impacts from the storms that came through on Wednesday. After shooting up a few feet in an hour or two the Vermilion River ended up leveling out a little under 12.5', so while it's still very high we won't see it climb anymore the next few days. Bayou de Cannes was the other waterway that saw a rise in levels and it seems like that has also leveled out and should start to fall after the next few days.

It's as wet as advertised out there Wednesday morning with soaking showers locked in across much of south Louisiana. Flash Flood Warnings extended from roughly St. Martin Parish west along I-10 into Calcasieu, and from Hwy 14 north into Evangline Parish. The heaviest rain so far has mostly been Calcasieu and Beauregard Parish where a majority of the flood reports have been coming from early Wednesday.

After a beautiful start to the work week we'll see almost a complete 180 degree turn in the forecast as heavy, soaking showers push through the area starting Tuesday night. Clouds will build through the day with showers starting to move through during Thursday evenings commute, and once it gets going it will continue through dinner time and into the overnight hours.
