Olympic champion freestyle swimmer Kyle Chalmers has revealed he intends to race in the 50m butterfly in the 2028 LA Olympics after winning the national trials final in Adelaide ahead of the World Championships. An Olympic gold and silver medallist in the 100m freestyle, Chalmers swam a 22.89 second time to win the final and add to what had been a successful week. He said butterfly was the stroke he first wanted to swim as a young member of the Dolphins.

Champion swimmer Mollie O’Callaghan has made a major statement with a spectacular time in the 100m freestyle final of the Australian trials. The 21-year-old, who won Olympic gold in Paris for the 200m freestyle and finished fourth in the 100m race, was unstoppable as she swam a time of 52.87 seconds to add to her Singapore World Championships schedule. She was happy with her swim despite a challenging period of preparation.

Olympic star Kaylee McKeown swam a 2025 world-best 200m backstroke time with a stunning race at the Australian Swimming Trials in Adelaide. The 23-year-old had previously been disappointed with her times at the trials but produced an explosive performance to finish with a 2:09.54 time. McKeown was pleased with her performance“I’m not going to be harsh on myself tonight, I am happy with that. It’s a good step in the right direction,” she said.

Australian Olympic swimmer Max Giuliani has accepted the challenge thrown down by USA speedster Luke Hobson in the 200m freestyle last week. The 21-year-old, who finished seventh in Paris’ final for the event last year, said he was impressed by Hobson’s time of 1:43.73 at the US National Trials, over a second faster than Giuliani’s personal best of 1:44.79.
