In the early 2000s, there was a vigorous debate between Italian Senator Marcello Pera and then-Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger about European identity and its ramifications for all of the West. The debate helped give rise to The Bradley Project on America’s National Identity, on which we worked while on the program staff of Milwaukee’s Lynde and Harry Bradley Foundation, and its 2008 report, E Pluribus Unum.
