SAN ANTONIO – The United States’ involvement in the Vietnam conflict dates back to 1950 and lasted through six presidential administrations. It began with large financial commitments and military advisors helping in anti-communist efforts. >> Click here to view our interactive project. Combat Marines were the first to land in Da Nang in early 1965. By 1975, the Marines at the U.S. Embassy in Saigon were the last to leave.
