Earlier this month, a longtime Hoboken favorite announced its impending closure. Torna’s Pizzeria, which has been serving the community for 60+ years, made public its plans to close for good on July 24th, 2025. The news came as a shock to new and loyal customers alike, who frequent the decades-old haunt for its Sicilian slices and pies. Torna’s will operate business as usual until late July, but a successor for the space has already been named.

Over her 8 seasons on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Lisa Rinna is estimated to have used the phrase “own it” upwards of 30 times. The actress, TV personality, and fashion designer used the expression indiscriminately: in various conflicts with co-stars, as her Season 8 tagline (“I don’t have to buy it because I already own it”). But if we’re talking about a specific cheetah tracksuit Lisa wore on Season 11 Episode 4, she no longer owns that.

Vince was experiencing Hoboken like a true local, but he was in Hudson County for work, filming a new movie called Nonnas in Bayonne. Two years later, Nonnas is set to make its Netflix debut on Friday, May 9th.

local scoopExpect to see long lines around 4th + Washington Streets in Hoboken today: it’s Free Cone Day at Ben + Jerry’s. Ben + Jerry’s has been hosting its Free Cone Day since 1979 as a way to thank customers for their support. This year, the national ice cream chain is celebrating on Tuesday, April 8th, and customers can stop by for free scoops of their favorite flavors from 12PM – 8PM. on the blockNearly a year after her last visit to Hoboken, Jennifer Lopez has returned to the Mile Square. On Monday, April 7th, the singer, dancer, songer, and actress was in town fulfilling the last descriptor on that list, filming a new Netflix romcom called Office Romance. Film crews were spotted in downtown Hoboken, near 1st + River Streets and along the waterfront, where J Lo and co-star Bett Goldstein spent the majority of the day.

behind the bizHere in New Jersey, there are three major food groups: pizza, pasta, and bagels. Hoboken has always been a frontrunner in the Italian restaurant department, but as recently as the early ’80s, the City was without a traditional bagel shop. Hoboken’s first, Hoboken Hot Bagels, opened in 1983 and still stands proudly — and relatively unchanged — at 634 Washington Street. The shop was started by Dick Wehr Jr. and is now run by his son, Richard.
