Pension pool Border to Coast Pensions Partnership, which is owned by 11 local government pension schemes in England, has committed £80m (€93m) to two funds – one focused on building vital life sciences real estate and the other on renewable energy infrastructure.

The London Pensions Fund Authority said it is “taking climate action” to protect its 100,000 members from the consequences of global warming. The London Pensions Fund Authority (LPFA), a local government pension scheme which manages £8bn (€9.4bn) in assets, plans to allocate around 3% of its total value to environmental solutions assets that will boost its net-zero targets.

TBC Bank Uzbekistan will use the funds to boost its lending efforts to promote financial inclusion in Central Asia’s most populous country, with a focus on small- and medium-sized businesses. A fund managed by Swiss impact investor BlueOrchard has provided $20m (€18.2m) in debt financing to TBC Bank Uzbekistan, taking its total commitment to the country’s largest digital bank to $45m. The initial $25m deal was signed in August.
